From my diverse experiences I have gained a lot of transferable skills which I translate to the real world. These include; communication, team work, organisation, leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
I was awarded with a place on the ATG Work in Theatre course Easter 2015, where I took part in a number of workshops related to the theatre industry. I also had a three day work placement at the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End, where I shadowed a number of different departments. These included; programming, producing, marketing, directing, retail management, front of house and backstage.
From this moment forward I started to volunteer at more arts based events and researched the sector in more depth. For my second year research project I chose to answer the question "Do "NT Live broadcasts help to improve engagement in the theatre?". Whilst, in my third and final year I decided to focus my dissertation on the engagement and perceptions of Musical Theatre amongst young students.
In Summer 2016 I took part in the Grosvenor Park Young Company where I was the Company Stage Manager. My duties ranged from gathering costumes and props to managing and controlling the budget through receipt logs. This was a very enjoyable experience and it helped me to broaden my career horizons within the theatre. From this I became an Assistant Stage Manager with the Chester Little Theatre supporting their production of Outside Edge.
In October 2017 I graduated from the University of Chester with a BA (Hons) in Events Management, where I achieved a First. Whilst in November 2017 I was presented with the Silver Arts Award. This shows my determination to succeed and my dedication to the arts.
